Surveys and quantitative analysis methodologies are great for telling us what people think. But sometimes, it's more important to understand why people think the way they do. Or, we may want to ask a series of follow-up questions that are impossible to ask on a survey. For these and many other reasons, focus group sessions and other qualitative measurement strategies are an appropriate research methodology.
